ABOUT

We are CO-INSPIRANTS, a Chilean collective dedicated to theoretical and practical experimentation around the performing arts from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Our work began in the year 2015 with the Cenit project, and since then, we collaborate with artists from the areas of dance, theater, literature, and music, with whom we investigate and prioritize the creation process rather than its result.

The collective seeks to combine different languages to create stage devices, which aim to problematize the statute of the body on the stage.

I am a performing artist, researcher and lecturer specialized in movement and performance studies. I graduated as Actress at Catholic University of Chile. Then I made an MA in Performance: practice as research (2015) and a second one in Movement: direction and pedagogy (2017) at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London, UK. I enjoy exploring different formats: theater, dance, circus, performance, new media and all its possible interchanges. I currently teach at the theater school of Catholic University of Chile, I collaborate in research projects about technology and body, I am part of the company Teatro del Sonido, and co-director of  the collective Co-inspirantes.

Emiliana Abril

Her artistic name is Kinetic and her approach to music is multiple: producer of beats, musician, composer, and singer. All these areas come together in her musical work, translated into the creation of fractured rhythms and lyrics with poetic breath at times as brittle, overwhelming, or ethereal as her productions and voice. Breakbeat, soul, pop, drum n bass, hip-hop, and an innate vocation for experimentation and risk. She debuted in an applauded self-titled album, which the natural sequel to it was II (2013), an elaborate work that explores various fields of pop and electronics this time. In 2017 she launched the album III, winner in the Best Electronic Music Artist category, at the Pulsar 2018 awards. In addition to adding concerts on various local stages, collaborating with musicians from the Chilean scene, and being part of contemporary dance and sound design projects, Kinética has performed in Mexico and Europe, where it has offered shows or DJ sets. Regarding her artistic practice, Kinética has declared: "I am still in the constant search to find my own sound, independent of the musical style".

Elizabeth Dastres

I have a degree on theatre of the international school of gesture and image La Mancha. I am also a plastic artist who seeks the interrelation between the sensory experience, movement, matter and spectator. This, under the sociocultural contexts that represent us, seeking the re-meaning of the public spaces. She has participated in various national and international meetings, opening research spaces from an anthropological perspective on art. It is part of the company Teatro del Sonido, Collective ChaskiNómade and Collective Co-inspirantes.

Nicole Sazo

I place myself in various places of creation and scenic research. I graduated from the Universidad Católica de Chile in 2010 with a degree in acting. Then, out of curiosity and desire to learn about other ways of (dis)learning, I participated in independent training spaces in Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Spain. During 2019-2020 I did the Master in Art Practice and Visual Culture (Madrid, Spain), at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in collaboration with the Reina Sofia Museum and Artea. I have collaborated in various theatre, dance and performance projects. The questions that currently mobilize me are related to the Deaf Community, communication, language and the democratization/accessibility of cultural spaces and institutions.
